Who is responsible for this website: This policy covers data processing on smart-byte.com, including its language versions and www address. Hosting and security: We serve this website through Google's Firebase Hosting. Requests involve connection data such as your IP address and request details to deliver content and detect abuse. Our legitimate interest is reliable and secure operation (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google states that Firebase Hosting retains IP data for a few months. Processing may take place outside the EU. Details of recipients, subprocessors and contractual safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, are available in the Firebase privacy information and Firebase data processing terms. Font files are served with this website; your browser does not download them from Google Fonts.
Language and cookies: The i18n_redirected cookie remembers the language used and helps open the appropriate language version. It contains a language code and lasts up to one year. You can delete it in your browser; the language will then be determined again. Storage supports the language feature under section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Where personal data is involved, we rely on our legitimate interest in a usable multilingual website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use advertising cookies or social media tracking pixels.
Offline copy, local storage, network log, 3D graphics and search: Apart from the language cookie described above, nothing is stored on your device unless you ask for it. If you choose "Keep a copy on this device", a service worker saves the pages and files you visited in your browser storage so the site works without a network. The copy stays on your device, is never sent to us and can be removed at any time with "Remove the copy" or "Delete everything this site stored". The network log lists every request this page made, including the exact data sent to our visit counter; it is computed in your browser and not sent anywhere. The 3D graphics, including the team portraits drawn from small image files on our server, are calculated in your browser; nothing about them is sent back. Sound is off unless you turn it on, and the words you type into explore mode never leave the page. The site search also runs in your browser; your queries are not sent anywhere. If you turn counting off (see website statistics), umami.disabled is stored in your browser's local storage so it stays off; it is never sent to us. This storage only serves functions you requested or that are strictly necessary for the page to behave as you'd expect (section 25(2)(2) TDDDG).
Website statistics with Umami: We count visits with Umami, open-source analytics that we run ourselves at analytics.smart-byte.com on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, located in Finland. Hetzner processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Article 28 GDPR); nobody else receives it. When a page loads, and when you use one of a few controls, your browser sends: the page's address without query string or fragment, and its title; the page you came from, which browsers usually share only as a domain; your screen size and browser language; and for a control, which one it was and a few details: a button or store link with the product, opening a project page, opening an email draft, or sending the contact form with the kind of request and its stage. We never send names, email addresses or message text. From your IP address and browser type, which every request carries, our server works out your browser, operating system, device type and approximate location (country, region and city). Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It does not store your IP address: to tell visits apart, it derives a pseudonymous identifier from your IP address, your browser's user agent and a salt that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days. We look at the results only in aggregate, to see which pages help and what to improve; we don't build profiles or combine this data with anything else. Our interest is improving the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Analytics records are deleted after 13 months. Browsers that send Do Not Track are not counted, and you can turn counting off for this browser below. The network log on every page shows exactly what was sent.
Contact and email drafts: The contact form prepares your entries in your own email app. The website does not send the message text to a form server or persist it in browser storage. We receive your message only when you send the email yourself. Your email app and provider process the draft according to their settings and terms. Once received, we use your contact details, message and any attachments to handle your enquiry. For contractual enquiries, the basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; otherwise it is our legitimate interest in responding (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We retain correspondence for as long as needed to handle the enquiry or meet statutory retention duties.
YouTube videos: Some project pages let you load YouTube videos. No YouTube player is embedded before you activate it. After the click, your browser connects to Google and may transmit your IP address, device information and usage data. We use youtube-nocookie.com with privacy-enhanced mode. This does not mean that no data is processed after playback starts. You choose whether to load the video. The basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where applicable, section 25(1) TDDDG). You can use “Close video” to stop further playback. Google's processing, possible international transfers and retention periods are described in its privacy policy.
External links and product badges: Social media, partner, product and store links lead to external websites. Social media icons are served locally and do not load social plugins. The ClipMark page loads badge images from api.producthunt.com and cdn-b.saashub.com (SaaSHub). This sends connection data such as your IP address and browser details to the provider. Our legitimate interest in showing the product's listing is the basis for this request (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Featured apps and products: This policy covers the company website. The featured apps and linked product websites have their own applicable privacy information. Features such as sign-in, AI processing or purchases may involve different data flows from browsing this site. We therefore do not make a blanket claim that every product operates solely on your device or processes no personal data.
Your rights: Subject to the GDPR, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. You may withdraw consent at any time for the future. Where processing relies on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. Use the contact above to exercise these rights.
